I've got a 5-bulb T5 HO fixture above the 180 right now and all of the SPS frags are within 12 inches of the bulbs directly under the fixture.  Over the last week, the pigmentation on the coral has become notable less intense.  That's about the same distance I had them from the 250W halides in the 33G cube where the color was really getting better.  I do like the effect of the Actinic bulbs, so I will be using a combination of 400W MH, 250W MH and Actinic T5's.  (I'm cheap, so I've got most of what I need to accomplish this now).  I guess I could do 3x 400W, but it just seems like a waste of money since I can adjust the coral locations to match the lighting that suits them best.
